Intelligent packaging solutions
An international customer from the chemical industry was looking for an automation solution for the safe handling of heavyweight sacks containing hazardous substances in order to avoid exposing staff to unnecessary risks during filling and commissioned ASA Automation to plan and implement this task.
With this ATEX-certified bag-closure machine by ASA Automation the bag is first filled automatically. After that the carton is transferred into the robotic cell and is stopped at a certain position. The two robots pull up the edges of the bag, squeeze them in a way that as little air as possible remains in the bag and close it. In order to do this, the part of the pouch which extends beyond the edge of the carton is gripped by a robot, is then twisted by turning the carton, and finally a closure is applied. Different closure types can be applied depending on the contents and customer requirements. Overall, the complete work cycle takes less than 20 seconds, which increases the degree of automation in the work process and significantly reduces the workload on personnel.
Flexible adaptation to different packaging volumes and packaging units
Clearly defined interfaces of the ASA Automation machine concept allow step-by-step automation of preceding or subsequent work processes. This makes it comparatively easy to adapt the system to increasing packaging volumes and to process packaging units with different contents.
