Robotics for Flexible Pick-and-Place Processes
At InterSupply I InterTabac 2026, ASA Automation presented a pick-and-place solution that combines various components of modern automation technology. The focus was on a collaborative FANUC robot with application-specific gripping technology and a modular Carryline conveyor system, both of which visitors could experience firsthand.
Flexible Palletizing and Depalletizing
The application on display was set up as a loop: In the first step, the FANUC CRX-10iA/L depalletized the cartons and transferred them to the Carryline conveyor system. The cartons were then picked up again by the conveyor belt and palletized. This allowed visitors to see several possible applications for use in their own production processes.
Since this is a collaborative robot designed to work directly alongside humans, the application could be operated at the trade show without a traditional safety enclosure.
For even more precise detection and positioning of the products, the system can also be equipped with a vision system. A camera detects the position of the products and transmits the determined gripping coordinates to the robot controller. This allows for position deviations to be accounted for and the products to be picked up with precision. The combination of image processing and pneumatic gripping technology enables precise and gentle handling of the products.
Flexible Conveyor Technology in a Modular System
The modular design of the Carryline conveyor system allows for flexible adaptation of the conveyor route to the specific application, as well as quick installation. Different components can be combined according to requirements and expanded or modified as needed. This allows the conveyor system to be used flexibly for a variety of transport tasks.
